TRAX ("we", "our", or "us") operates the TRAX mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Location data

When you choose to broadcast your position, the App collects your device's GPS coordinates in real time. This data is used solely to share your live location with the people you authorise. We do not collect location data in the background or when you are not actively broadcasting.

Access credentials

TRAX uses a user-generated ID and password to control who can view a broadcast. We store only what is needed to authenticate tracking sessions. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment information.

Device and usage information

We may collect basic device information (operating system version, app version) and anonymised crash logs to diagnose technical issues. This information does not identify you personally.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide the service. Your live location is transmitted to other users who have entered your broadcast ID and password. This is the sole purpose for which location data is used.
  • To improve the App. Anonymised crash and performance data helps us find and fix bugs.
  • To communicate with you. If you contact us directly, we use your contact details only to respond.

We do not use your location for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond real-time sharing with users you have authorised.

3. Data sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Location data is shared only with users who have your specific broadcast ID and password. We may disclose information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Legal requirements. If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
  • Safety. To protect the rights, property, or safety of TRAX, our users, or the public, where permitted by law.
  • Service providers. We may use third-party services (such as cloud infrastructure or analytics) that process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations. These providers are not permitted to use your data for any purpose other than providing services to us.

4. Data retention

Live location data is transmitted in real time and is not stored after a broadcast session ends. We do not maintain a history of your past locations. Access credentials associated with a session are retained only for as long as the session is active.

5. Your rights and choices

  • Stop broadcasting at any time. You control when your location is shared. Ending a broadcast immediately stops transmission.
  • Revoke access. You can change or delete your broadcast ID and password at any time to prevent further tracking.
  • Device permissions. You can revoke the App's location permission in your device settings at any time. This will prevent the App from functioning as a broadcaster.

6. Children's privacy

TRAX is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we collect. Access to broadcasts is protected by ID and password. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Third-party services

The App may use third-party services such as Google Maps for map rendering. These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
